A number of well-known international mobile manufacturing companies have voiced willingness to cooperate with Iran for cell phone production. Announcing this, the director general of Industries and Mines Ministry's technology, electronics and electricity office noted that negotiations are underway in this respect.
Given that mobile phone production is one of the priority of Ministry of Industries and Mines, Mahmoud Layaei added the issue plays a key role in creating jobs and generating value added.
He added that RLS140 billion (US$14.6 million) has been invested in mobile phone production across the country.
Layaei termed the illegal import of mobile phones as one of the obstacles to domestic production.
