The newly-appointed minister of Communications and Information Technology said the Third Operator tender will be repeated.
Reza Taqipour also stated that foreign investors are interested in the Third Operator project.
According to Mehr News Agency, Taqipour was speaking at his inauguration ceremony in Tehran on Sunday in which he outlined plans for his tenure as minister.
Iran floated the tender for its third cellphone operator project in December 2008. Since then, international firms, including Russia's MegaFon, UAE's Etisalat and Kuwait's Zain, have been announced as winners at different junctures, but they have backed away after reviewing the tender terms.
Reports have blamed factors related to conducting business in Iran as the reason for the refusal of these companies.
