The 12th International Telecommunications Trade Fair (Iran Telecom2011) was inaugurated in Tehran International Fairgrounds on Monday.
Minister of Information and Communications Technology Reza Taqipour participated in the inauguration ceremony, IRNA reported.
More than 170 domestic companies and 37 foreign companies, including Ericsson and ZTE Corporation are taking part in the exhibition.
The fair is being held in 10 halls. Iran Telecom is the most important telecommunication event in the country. Among the goals of the exhibition are showcasing the latest achievements and capabilities of domestic and foreign experts, companies, and producers in the fields of telecommunication, information and technology, preparing the ground for transferring up-to-date technologies, providing the opportunity for customers to contact sellers and encouraging competition among the producers and providing the needs of the telecommunication industry.
Iranian firms are participating in the exhibition under a single management. Telecommunication Company of Iran, Hamrah-e Avval, Telecommunication Company of Tehran, Mobin Net, Talia, Shahid Ghandi Communication Cable Company and MobinOne are among the major domestic firms which are taking part in the exhibition. .
Telecommunication companies of provinces of West Azarbaiijan, Fars, Qom, Qazvin, Razavi Khorasan and Isfahan have also showcased their services in the exhibition.
In addition to domestic and foreign companies, a large number of industrial universities of the country and news agencies and publications related to telecommunication industry are taking part in the event. Training workshops and specialized seminars will also be held on the sideline of the exhibition. The fair will continue until November 18.
