Lower Roaming Charges For 10 Nations

Mobile Communications Company of Iran (MCI) plans to decrease roaming charges for 10 countries which host the highest number of Iranian visitors, announced the company's managing director.

Vahid Sadouqi told ISNA that slashing roaming charges is on MCI's agenda, adding countries such as Iraq and UAE are the top priority.

Commenting on costs and quality of services provided by MCI, as the country's first operator, for SIM card subscribers abroad, he said mutual collaboration should be pursued with operators in target nations.

He continued that even if cellphone handsets of Iranian travelers are turned on during their overseas trip, there will be no charges unless they answer the phone, he concluded.

The first operator has established roaming links with 260 mobile phone operators in 110 countries. It also provides rural roaming services in 35,000 villages in 20 provinces.
